Thuringian mountain railway (Obstfelderschmiede – Lichtenhain – Cursdorf)

The mountain railway consists of two sections. One is the funicular line between Obstfelderschmiede and Lichtenhain, and the other is the upland route between Lichtenhain and Cursdorf. Both run every 30 minutes from 6.30am-8pm.

Transporting bicycles

Schwarza valley line
Transporting bicycles is free of charge, but trains can only hold a limited number of bikes.

Mountain railway
Bicycles can only be transported in the funicular's passenger wagon, and passengers require a ticket for them

  • Max. 8 bicycles
  • Transportation possible once an hour
  • On the hour from Lichtenhain (summit station)
  • On the half-hour from Obstfelderschmiede (valley station)
